Cranberry-Orange Smoothie

I usually have a few bags of frozen cranberries in my freezer this time of year. During the holidays, I buy a some extra bags of fresh cranberries and freeze them so I can use them later, for random recipes I come across. Like this Cranberry-Orange Smoothie, which I found at Williams-Sonoma. The cranberry-orange flavors in this smoothie are so good together and I used honey to sweeten it instead of agave nectar, which was used in the original recipe. It has just the right amount of sweetness and if you like cranberries, I’m sure you will love this smoothie!

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

The movie I Heard the Bells is the true story behind the Christmas carol and the man who wrote it, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Longfellow was affectionately known by the public as “America’s Poet”, inspiring the country with his work. The movie takes place during the period in his life when our nation was divided by the Civil War. Cranberry-Orange Quick Bread

Quick breads make a great snack or breakfast and brunch item, and this Cranberry-Orange Quick Bread is especially nice for this time of year! This quick bread is made with fresh or frozen cranberries, but you could also substitute dried cranberries if you prefer. I like it best with fresh cranberries! There’s some orange juice and orange extract to give it a nice citrus flavor—and you can also add a little orange zest if you like.
