Wow, it sure is hot out there! So I thought it would be a good idea to post another smoothie recipe! This Strawberry-Citrus Flax Smoothie is a healthy, refreshing way to start your day, and it also makes a healthy snack—blend one up whenever you’re craving something cool and creamy (like ice cream or a shake), but would prefer to have something healthy.
If you’re not a fan of flaxseed, just leave that out. I like using it myself because it’s such a healthy add-in, and you really can’t tell there’s flaxseed in this smoothie—the other ingredients do a nice job of disguising it! 🙂

STRAWBERRY-CITRUS FLAX SMOOTHIE by NancyC
Makes about two 9-ounce servings
1 heaping cup fresh or frozen strawberries
3/4 cup plain, vanilla, or strawberry Greek yogurt
1/4 to 1/3 cup orange juice or grapefruit juice (use 1/4 cup for a thicker smoothie)
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed
1 banana
3 to 4 ice cubes
Place all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Divide amount into 2 glasses and serve immediately.

I tend to make smoothies more in the summer than at any other time of year. Do you make smoothies often? Do you like them with or without healthy add-ins like flaxseed?
