Yesterday I went to my first Christmas party of the season! It was a gathering with coworkers, and it was at our department manager’s home. The entire house was so beautifully decorated for the holidays! I wanted to share some photos with you to give you some holiday decorating inspiration and entertaining ideas!
Their front door is adorned with an eye-catching handknitted wreath, welcoming you inside this cozy home. This wreath was made by my manager’s wife Gayla, who is very talented at creating home decor, and also has her own business called Jubilee Fabric.
I received a review copy of this book; all opinions expressed are mine.
This book had me at the title: Feels Like Home: Transforming Your Space from Uninspiring to Uniquely Yours(Worthy Publishing). A place “uniquely yours” sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?! Why would we want to live amid the blah walls of a home (or townhome or apartment) when we can transform it into a place we love to be—a place that is truly a reflection of our style and personality? Author Marian Parsons (aka Miss Mustard Seed) and DIY/Home blogger at missmustardseed.com, shares a volume of helpful and budget-friendly tips, DIY project ideas, and decorating inspiration to help you turn your home into that special place you’ve always dreamed of.
I’m definitely a slipcover user, are you? I love the fact that, for a low cost, you can transform and freshen up an existing piece of furniture that you already own, or even may have inherited from parents or grandparents. The table and chairs seen in the photos I’m sharing here were my paternal grandmother and grandfather’s. They weren’t in great shape, but I had them repaired and restored. I had the chair seats recovered, too, but I never really liked the fabric that was used on them. So I’ve always used slipcovers on these chairs. I like the fresh, simple look that slipcovers give them—it’s a look that goes better with my decor.I was excited to have the chance to review these slipcovers from The Slipcover Company—my old slipcovers were pretty worn and I was having a hard time finding the right slipcovers to replace them. After going to the website, it didn’t take me long to discover the slipcovers I’m showing here—I knew when I saw them, they’d be perfect! I just clicked on the Dining Room Chair Covers tab near the top of the site to see the many styles and colors there were to choose from! I could picture the Washed cotton duck Ruffled dining chair slipcover in Khaki going perfectly in my dining area. I also really liked a 2- and 3- Tier Ruffled style they had—that would have looked great, too. Whatever your dining chair cover needs are, I’m sure you’d find what you need from all the options they offer. And they’re all very reasonably priced!
For the last few years, I’ve been on a mission to simplify my life and declutter my home. I wrote a little about this in a past post of mine called Creating Quiet…about clearing out the unimportant, whether it’s activities or clutter, and focusing on what’s really important. I’ve made good progress, although I still have a ways to go! Continue reading →
How did summer come and go so fast? Since it’s my favorite season, I’m a little sad to see summer go! But I’m welcoming fall by thinking of all the things I like about this season of change. After the lazy days of summer and vacation time, it seems like the arrival of fall
