If you’re looking for an easy patriotic dessert idea, these Easy Patriotic Cookies are really so super easy to make! You can use your favorite store-bought cookies, like chocolate sandwich cookies, shortbread, peanut butter, chocolate chip, or oatmeal cookies…OR you can use your own homemade cookies. You simply dip the cookies in melted chocolate and then sprinkle on some red, white, and blue sprinkles for a festive, patriotic look!
I really like using chocolate sandwich cookies and shortbread, but any of your favorite cookies should work fine! One nice thing about using store bought cookies is that there’s no baking involved, which makes these cookies extra quick and easy. And no-bake recipes are great during the hot weather, right? No need to turn on that oven! 🙂

EASY PATRIOTIC COOKIES by NancyC
Makes 36 to 40 small dipped cookies
2 (4-ounce) white or semi-sweet chocolate baking bars, coarsely chopped (or use 1 of each, but melt them separately)
Red, white, and blue sprinkles (use one kind or several different kinds)
36 to 40 of your favorite purchased or homemade smaller-sized cookies (shortbread, oatmeal, chocolate chip, peanut butter, chocolate sandwich cookies…whatever you like!)
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper; set aside.
Melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating for 30 seconds; remove and stir, then heat in 15-second increments, stopping and stirring after each time until the chocolate is smooth.
Dip each cookie into the melted chocolate about halfway; gently shake off excess chocolate, then sprinkle the chocolate with your red, white, and blue sprinkles.
Place dipped and sprinkled cookies on lined baking sheet to let chocolate set—the chocolate will set more quickly if you place the sheet of cookies in your refrigerator for at least a half hour.
Serve cookies when chocolate is set, or put them in an airtight container and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

The cookies are shown in the photos above on the Grace & Gratitude Accent Plate from MaryandMartha.com. And in the background are the Beautiful Planter Box and Faith Hope Joy Planters, used to hold the rest of the cookies—they make a beautiful and handy serving accessory as well as planter! 🙂
