Valentine Brownies

If you’re short on time and need a quick and easy Valentine dessert, keep these brownies in mind! You just use your favorite fudge brownie mix and add Valentine sprinkles to the top before baking! If you prefer homemade brownies, you could use your favorite recipe and top them with sprinkles.

This recipe makes a 9 x 9″ pan. I doubled the recipe and made two 9 x 9″ pans of brownies and topped one with red and white sprinkles and one with pink and glittery sprinkles. You could also double the recipe and make a large batch in a 9 x 13″ pan. I also added one cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter to make the brownies extra chocolatey.

Here’s a couple tips about using the sprinkles on top: I covered my brownies pretty heavily with sprinkles, and found the the top of the brownies buckled a little when baking. So, I recommend not over-doing the sprinkles. You can sprinkle a good amount on top, but don’t pile on the sprinkles! Also, avoid sprinkles that have larger pieces mixed in, like round balls, heart shapes, or stars—since these larger sprinkles are heavier, they will sink into the batter while the brownies are baking.

Other than that, these brownies are festive and fun to eat! 🙂

VALENTINE BROWNIES by NancyC
Makes a 9 x 9″ pan, about 9 to 16 brownies

1 box of your favorite fudge brownie mix for an 9 x 9″ pan
The ingredients needed to prepare the mix (water, oil, and eggs)
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Valentine sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease or spray a 9 x 9″ pan or line with parchment paper; set aside.

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions; then mix the 1 cup of mini chocolate chips into the batter. Spread batter in prepared baking pan and top the brownie batter with Valentine sprinkles—be careful not to sprinkle them on too heavily or the top may buckle while baking. Bake as directed on brownie package (typically 36 to 38 minutes).

Let cool completely in pan, then cut into squares. You’ll get 9 large squares or 16 smaller squares.
