Smoked Sausage and Beans

Beans make a great side dish, especially for potlucks and picnics! Here’s a special version of beans that have that rich baked bean flavor, along with smoked sausage and some other sweet-and-savory ingredients—Smoked Sausage and Beans. Because it’s a hearty dish, it can work either as a side dish or main dish! And no baking is involved so it won’t heat up your kitchen when the weather is hot!

These beans have a delicious mix of three kinds of beans, chopped onion, red bell pepper and a few other savory flavorings. It’s sweetened with some brown sugar and ketchup. And the smoked sausage really makes them great!

You can cook this dish up on your stove top or make it in your slow cooker. If you want to serve it as a main dish, include some cornbread or crusty bread and a salad to round out your meal! Or serve it over rice! And of course, it works great on its own as a side dish.

    • Thanks, Velva! You’re right, this dish is similar to Cowboy Beans–I hadn’t thought of that! I’ve made those before too! 🙂
