There’s nothing like a chewy chocolate chip cookie—except for these Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars, that is! Not only are they chewy, they’re brimming with chocolate chips! They taste just like a big, chewy chocolate chip cookie, but they’re easier to make because you just spread the batter out in a 9 x 13″ pan and bake!
These cookie bars are about as thick as a typical chocolate chip cookie and you can cut them as large or small as you want! As you can see from my photo, I prefer cutting them in large squares. Cut them into squares or cut them into bars…either way, they’re very yummy! 🙂

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE BARS by NancyC
Makes a 9 x 13″ pan, about 12 to 15 large bars or squares
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease a 9 x 13″ baking pan or line with parchment paper; set aside.
In large bowl, blend brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted butter, then mix in eggs and vanilla, blending well.
In a medium size bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add this mixture to the brown sugar/butter mixture, mixing until everything is combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spread batter evenly in prepared 9 x 13″ pan. Bake at 350˚F for 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool, then cut into bars or squares.

The bars don’t have to be completely cool before you cut them—I cut them while they were still slightly warm, after about 15 to 20 minutes of cooling. They are definitely a real treat! Are you a chocolate chip cookie fan? Do you prefer cookies or cookie bars?

These sound exactly like the bars I used to enjoy so so much as a child! Thanks for bringing back good memories. I am going to have to try my hand at recreating these little snippets of my childhood. Smiles, Linda at Paper Seedlings
