That’s What Christmas is All About…

One of my favorite Christmas shows is the Peanuts classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas. I have seen it just about every year since I was a kid, and I never get tired of watching it! What a great reminder of what Christmas is all about as Linus recites a passage from the Gospel of Luke:

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

LUKE 2:8-14, KJV

So if you still don’t have your tree put up and decorated yet (like me!) and are stressing out because you can’t get everything done you think you need to do, take a quiet break to reflect on and remember that Christmas is not about the decorations and gifts…it’s all about Jesus, God’s gift to each one of us.

  1. So true…I have made a wall hanging for Christmas using John 3:16 “for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should have eternal life”…’cos that is the heart of the season for me! I haven’t posted completed pictures of it yet…still need to find a piece of dowel!

  2. Perfect reminder ~ and perfect for me to read today. Thanks so much! I’m in the midst of a jillion boxes and today I think I reached my frustration level…almost in tears and my knees hurt so bad I can hardly stand it.
Jesus is truly the reason for the season ~ ❤

I hope you have a delightful holiday season!
