Summer Vacation: South Haven

I am one of those people who love, love, love going to the beach! And this summer, I had the chance to go to a beach on the coast of Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes. The beach is in a town called South Haven. The waters are wavy and you may even see surfers riding them!

Our beach days had beautiful blue skies and lots of sunshine—perfect weather for being at the beach!

Instead of sea shells, you’ll find lots of beautiful stones along the coast. The waves wash plenty of them ashore so they’re easy to collect!

There’s a lighthouse there too, called the South Haven Light, that was first lit in 1872. I love the beautiful rich red color of this lighthouse!

There’s also a boat ride you can take on the Friends Good Will, a replica of a top sail merchant sloop that sailed the Great Lakes waters in the early 19th century. You can sail on it during the day or go on a sunset sail!

Speaking of sunsets, lots of visitors come to the South Haven beach to view the setting sun every evening. The evening we came out to see it, the sky was cloudless, so it was especially beautiful to watch.

If you’re wanting to plan a beach getaway, keep South Haven in mind! It’s a wonderful place to visit!

Have you gone on any fun trips this summer?
