It was so nice to see the flowers start blooming this spring, brightening up the outdoors with their vivid color! It had been a longer-than-usual and colder-than-usual winter, so I was really ready for spring to come this year. I love to watch the new growth in a spring garden, as buds start appearing on branches and flower stems slowly break through the ground. I took photos of some of my flowering plants and bushes, and thought I’d share them with you.

I have several forsythia bushes. They were the first to bloom–this is a close-up view of my largest bush. The daffodils and tulips soon followed. I posted a photo last month of some of my daffodils. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to take any photos of the tulips–the wild bunnies who visited my yard seemed to think the tulips were really tasty and they ate most of them!

I could tell when my hyacinths were starting to bloom, because their lovely scent mingled with the springtime breezes. They’re so beautiful to look at, too! These are my pink hyacinths–I also have some that are purple and white. They’re pretty in any color!

I think these little white flowers are called Lily of the Valley, although in other photos I’ve seen of that flower their ends are turned up much more than these are. They look like pretty little bells in the garden bed–so tiny and delicate!

The irises began blooming after the forsythia and hyacinth blooms started fading away. It’s amazing how many different shades of purple you can see in this one flower. They’re so eye-catching!

This last photo is of my snowball bush. I’ve had it for three years and this is the first year it has bloomed so prettily! It has filled out more and has many more flowers than last year. When these flowers first start to bloom, they have a soft green color and then gradually transform into creamy white blossoms. Soon these flowers will be fading, but other plants in my garden will start blooming. It seems like there’s always something blooming and although I miss the older blooms when they fade away, other new flowers always spring up to enjoy.
